The Ultima is a compact top of the range interferential machine designed to reduce pain and inflammation. Unlike TENS, Interferential Therapy delivers a
continuous stimulation deep into the affected tissue. Interferential
stimulation can do this because it uses a 4000Hz carrier wave, which is able to
pass through the skin more easily. It is still not clear how interferential
therapy works, but it is thought by some to combine the pain relieving effects
of TENS with an acceleration of inflammatory process and healing rate.
